How Rachael became the Billing Magician.
Spending the majority of both my childhood and adult life in the medical system as a patient, visitor, or guardian I realized how truly broken the system was. As a patient I saw claims paid incorrectly, providers collect money from patients they could have gotten from insurance and often paid for things that I knew insurance should of covered.
When I began working with a plastic surgeon, I learned that insurance could help my patients struggling with alopecia, cancer, and trichotillomania along with a huge list of other diagnosis. The problem was I needed to get two sides involved in the process. I needed the Dr. and the billing staff to work together. While I was working with the plastic surgeon doing hair transplants we discussed prescriptions and found CPT (Cranial Prosthesis) prescriptions would help our patients obtain coverage for laser treatments, and hair prosthetics. I then found a new way to print receipts (Superbills)to show as an out of network provider and allow our patients to receive reimbursement for services. After I found these new loop wholes I found new things applied to Phlebotomy and psychology and even Dentist.
I went on to help grow and finish establishing a private practice for a small group in Chicago, IL. After I began implementing the coding changes, the practice began to see a 37% growth in profit within 4 months. I went on to continue growing this practice and expanded the number of employees by 300% within 14 months. I went on to work with 3 practices and introduce similar billing changes and training and all have seen growth within 4 weeks to 2 months of implementing these changes. My primary focus is on Mental Health Billing for out-patient and office settings. However, I have also assisted providers with home and school settings, IEP visits, medical conferences, and much more.
As a patient I have always thought of insurance as being essential to get the care you need. However, not all insurance companies are created equal, not all pay equal and not all pay the same. So I have made it my goal to ease both the patients and clinicians burden to make insurance company’s fulfill their obligations to all parties involved and allow providers to fully be compensated.
I have experience with most commercial, private, and government insurance companies. If a company is newer to me or I have not worked with them before then I make it my top priority to learn about them inside, outside and upside down. I take pride in my work and i am great with working with patients and believe in patient care. I am available to discuss your insurance needs if you do not see a plan that fits your scenario or have questions please reach out.
